Section 59 Warnings

Firstly, this is the General Lounge for most things to do with our roads. Indeed, most of us at some time use the road system in some way. With this in mind, users may post their experiences or observations here.

Just smile at the copper when he tells you that you have been given the Section 59 warning and go.
Don't argue with them and drive properly for 12 months and you will be off their computers.
The policemen and women like to be control freaks from time to time so allow them that pleasure at least.
Who knows, you might even enjoy driving very carefully.
Remember, careful driving will reduce your fuel bills also

Having no right to appeal against a Section 59 warning is a stinker.
Just saying :headscratch:

I was talking to a friend who was stopped for a naughty thing.
The police were going to take his car as it flagged up as having a Section 59 warning.
My mate persuaded them that he had just bought the car and just got a ticking off.
Apparently, the police can still take the car because its the car that is flagged with the warning and not the driver.
How can that be?
Are those idiots in charge of this farce aware that people do sell cars on?
Stay safe everyone!

Its about time the government stepped in to stop the Section 59 warning notices being abused.
Leaving it to the discretion of a few conscientious coppers without appeal is really not on.
These things should allow the accused to have a say!

There was a case where someone got a section 59 warning for having a faulty exhaust.

It would depend on the degree of the fault surely.
If it was so bad then get it off the road.
If it was just a small fault then discretion should prevail.
Apparently these Section 59 warnings are all to do with anti-social behaviour in a car.
A faulty car has different requirements and 'punishments'.
Stay safe everyone!

If a copper issues you with anything, don't accept it.

If the coppers say they are issuing you with a Section 59 warning notice tell them they should be out on the streets catching CRIMINALS.
